Tree Plantation Drive by Institute of Science:
As part of the Nirma University’s extension and outreach activities, a Tree Plantation Drive was organized by the Institute of Science, Nirma University on 5th September 2025. The main objective of the program was to spread environmental awareness among students and to contribute towards creating a greener and healthier environment. The activity also aimed to sensitize the young generation about their responsibility towards nature and sustainable living. The program commenced with a welcome address by the Extension Activity Coordinator, Dr. Darshan Dhakan, who highlighted the significance of trees in combating climate change and maintaining ecological balance. Following the address, faculty members, staff, and students actively participated in planting saplings across the university campus.
The plantation drive was initiated with the planting of a neem tree by the event coordinator. Thereafter, each group of students was entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing and maintaining the saplings. The students enthusiastically participated in the drive with dedication and commitment. They planted more than 8 trees around the campus, including Neem, Jamun, and Gulmohar.
The activity concluded with an environmental pledge, taken by all participants, to care for the planted trees and promote greenery in their communities. The event fostered teamwork, responsibility, and social commitment among participants. The university campus gained an addition of eco-friendly greenery, contributing to the “Clean & Green Campus” initiative. Trees are not just plants; they are life-givers – providing us with oxygen, shade, and biodiversity. By planting trees today, we are investing in a sustainable and healthier future.
