MSc Students’ Industrial Visit Report
Institute of Science organized an Industrial visit on February 27, 2026 for the MSc Semester-
II students of Biochemistry and Microbiology programs to AmulFed Dairy located at Hansol, Ahmedabad. The students were accompanied by Dr Amee Nair, Assistant Professor and Mr Sachin Prajapati, Laboratory Assistant. The tour started with a short video showcasing the history and the inception of the Amul in 1946. It also enlightened us about the diverse range of products made by the different Amul dairy plants present in India and abroad. During the tour at the Hansol unit, the students were given a section wise tour of the Milk, Curd, Buttermilk and Beverages production unit. A detailed description of the various steps involved from collection, testing, storage and automated packaging in UV pre-treated polymer packs, tetra-packs and bottles to ensure quality and safety of products.
Overall, the study tour was highly enriching and informative. The students keenly interacted with the tour guide gaining insights into large scale processing of milk and related dairy products.
