Dr. Nasreen Munshi is a microbiologist having expertise in the field of Environmental Bioremediation. She earned her Masters, MPhil and PhD degrees in Microbiology from Department of Microbiology, School of Sciences, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. After joining Institute of Science, Nirma University in 2009, she has been teaching courses like Microbial Genetics, Microbial Diversity & Systematics and Agricultural & Environmental Microbiology at Post Graduate level. She has teaching experience earlier from PD Patel Institute of Applied Sciences, CHARUSAT, Changa as well as Bhavnagar University. She has research interests in the field of Environmental Biotechnology specifically Industrial Wastewater Treatment, Hydrocarbon Bioremediation, Hydrocarbon Biosensor Development and interdisciplinary research on Microbial Fuel Cell Development for Wastewater Treatment and Electricity Generation. She has published many papers in national and international journals and as book chapters. She has guided four PhD students and 73 MSc students for their dissertation. Currently three PhD scholars are working under her guidance. She has received the funding support for research from Department of Biotechnology (DBT, Govt. of India), GSBTM (Govt. of Gujarat), iCreate, SAC-ISRO and Nirma University. She is associated with administration of Institute as IQAC Coordinator, Research Coordinator, Website Coordinator, Coordinator for Social Media Committee and MIS, MSc Admission Co-coordinator, Member of Board of Studies, Institutional Biosafety Committee and PhD Admissions.
