The Institute of Science, Nirma University organized a workshop on “Advancing Gender Equality” on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at the C Auditorium, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. The programme was conducted under the aegis of the Women Development Cell, Gender Champion and sponsored by the SETU Programme, Gender Resource Centre (GRC), Women and Child Development Department, Government of Gujarat.
The workshop aimed to sensitize participants to the principles of gender equality, equity, and inclusion, and to enhance understanding of how gender norms and biases influence individual and institutional practices. The session was facilitated by Dr Apurvakumar Pandya, Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar, who engaged participants through interactive discussions and reflective exercises on themes such as gender socialization, unconscious bias, stereotypes, and inclusive practices
Faculty members, staff, research scholars, and students actively participated in the workshop, making the discussions insightful and impactful. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and was well received for its contribution towards promoting awareness and commitment to gender equality within the university community. The workshop was coordinated by Dr Aarthi Sundararajan, Assistant Professor, Institute of Science, Nirma University.
