Silver Oak College, Ahmedabad invited Prof Sarat K Dalai, Director, Institute of Science, Nirma University to give an expert lecture as a part of International Immunology Day celebration. The event was organized for the local school and college students as well as for the academicians to increase the understanding and awareness regarding human immunology and how it can improve public health. Prof Dalai delivered a talk titled “How Do We Make Better Antibodies?” The lecture emphasized the role of T cells in helping B cells to undergo class switch and the somatic hypermutation leading to generation of high affinity antibodies. The tone of the lecture was set by COVID-19 infection and Immunity, the differential immune responses generated among young vs old. How this process could be compromised in elderly population was a take home lesson for the audience.
